Last Monday, June 30 2008, an army was shot just beside the Nabunturan Terminal, a 3 hour ride city from Davao City. Two days after, a Granade killed 3 people at a bakery called Park and Go just near the Terminal.
This is a clip of a news about the killings.
Rebels stage attacks in Compostela, Davao
DAVAO CITY — After raiding the towns of Dapa and General Luna in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, New People’s Army (NPA) rebels staged simultaneous offensives in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental Thursday.
The communist group raided two tunnels in the gold-rush mountain of Diwalwal, lobbed a grenade in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley, and attacked the Banaybanay town hall in Davao Oriental.
It so happened that I was at the same place the day before. I went to Nabunturan to teach kids about dancing with my dance colleague Clyde who taught tap dancing at a town called Camanlangan just an hour away from Nabunturan.
The day before the killing, we where at the Terminal in time to go home after two days in Camanlangan where we had a lot of fun eating fruits that were new to hour taste buds like the fruit called Granada.
Clyde, my dance colleague even tole me that he wanted to bring home the Granada Fruit, with this, we just sighed because we had no time to collect alot of the fruit.
The fruit look exactly like a “bayabas” but it taste like corn and pomelo. It was so hard to eat but it taste good.
Ironically, the granade that killed 3 people in Nabunturan didn’t taste good. Maybe becaue it was not a fruit meant to be taste with sweetness.
Please pray for those who died: To my friends and student, Reyniel..God bless you in heaven..
Ironically, the top online news website in Davao do not have stories about his? I hope it gets in the pages soon.
